Users can choose to receive promotional and marketing text messages from Booking during the account registration process.
During account creation, users are asked to provide their phone number and are presented with a separate, optional SMS marketing consent checkbox.
The SMS marketing consent checkbox is not selected by default. Users must actively select the checkbox to provide consent to receive promotional and marketing text messages.
Users can create an account without providing consent to receive marketing SMS messages.
“I agree to receive promotional and marketing text messages from Booking. Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Consent is not a condition of purchase.”
The following screenshot shows the actual account registration screen where users provide their phone number and separately opt in to receive promotional and marketing SMS messages.
The SMS marketing consent checkbox is displayed separately from the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy acceptance checkbox and is not pre-selected.
Users can opt out of promotional SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to a marketing message.
Users can reply HELP for assistance.
Consent to receive promotional SMS messages is not required to create an account or make a purchase.
When a user provides SMS marketing consent, the consent is associated with the user’s phone number and account information.
The consent is collected through the account registration process.
Users may withdraw their marketing SMS consent at any time.
